|Viking Boat Cruises
On the Hodson Bay Hotel doorstep, a fine Viking ship moors daily to take visitors from the Hotel to the Athlone town centre and back. Enjoy the serenity of the cruise while your guide ‘Viking Mike’ delights you with stories of the area.
|Dún na Sí- Amenity & Heritage Park
Dun na Si is a microcosm of Irish culture, a picture of bygone days with preserved farm machinery containing agricultural implements, a traditional fisherman's cottage, a bohain, a hedge school, replicas of megalithic monuments, traditional cottages and traditional livestock. The adjacent Amenity Park consists of a series of paths, children's playground, a wetland reserve and planted parklands which includes native species and bird hides.
|Trecks and Trails
The area is home to many treks and trails where guests are invited to walk, cycle or run. Rindoon, Mote Park, St John’s Woodland and the newly launched Old Rail Trail between Mullingar and Athlone are some of those on offer. Our activities table in the hotel is stocked with information and we also rent bikes from our leisure centre reception.
|Glendeer Pet Farm
Glendeer Pet Farm is an award winning 12 acre open farm situated in the heart of Ireland. Glendeer provides a safe and carefree environment for children of any age. Glendeer Farm is a fantastic day out for families, groups and school tours. Children are provided with a bag of food to feed the goats, sheep, emu, donkeys, cows, llama and lots more animals. No matter what the weather conditions are, there is always something to do as there is a lot of facilities undercover. Visit the indoor farm pets, the indoor suspended play area and the coffee shop which all provide shelter and entertainment.
|Lough Key Forest Park
Located a short drive from the hotel is the Lough Key Forest Park. The park is home to a range of scenic nature sights, as well as Boda Borg which provides physical and mental challenges… not to mention 900m of ziplines.
